Dear Participants, Esteemed Guests, Honored Colleagues,
It is a great honor for me, as Minister of Culture, to warmly welcome you and wholeheartedly encourage your participation in the 7th Global Forum for Medical Tourism and the 5th Edition of the Moldova Tourism Forum 2025, taking place on September 26, 2025, in Chișinău. This landmark international event is proudly organized by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Medical Tourism Association of Moldova.
In recent years, the Republic of Moldova has emerged as a rising star in the field of medical tourism. Since 2022, when our country officially joined the global medical tourism map, our progress has been nothing short of remarkable. In 2025 alone, Moldova recorded a 24% increase in medical service exports compared to 2024, reaching $67 million USD. Today, healthcare ranks among the top 10 most exported services of our nation.
This success is the result of a unified effort — a synergy between government institutions, private sector stakeholders, and international partners. A special mention goes to the Medical Tourism Association of Moldova, recognized as the #1 tourism innovation in recent years and currently holding the presidency of the Global Healthcare Travel Council (GHTC) for the 2024–2026 term.
This international recognition confirms not only the potential of Moldova’s healthcare services but also reflects our long-term vision for building a diverse, sustainable, and competitive tourism industry. Medical tourism in Moldova has become a vital bridge — connecting health, economy, and culture — and a testament to our ability to provide world-class care in a friendly and accessible environment.
We are proud to offer modern clinics, internationally recognized doctors, affordable pricing, and a cultural and linguistic affinity with European markets. These strengths make Moldova an increasingly attractive destination for patients from Romania, Italy, France, Ukraine, and beyond.
Moreover, tourism is a powerful engine for economic and social development: it generates jobs, attracts investment, supports local businesses, and strengthens Moldova’s global image.
That is why the Forum on September 26 is far more than a one-time gathering — it is a strategic platform for dialogue, innovation, and international cooperation, supporting an industry on the rise. This event reflects our mission to transform tourism into a true catalyst for understanding, mutual respect, and shared progress.
Dear friends, I invite you to join us in shaping Moldova’s future as a regional hub for sustainable and resilient tourism.
We look forward to welcoming you to Chișinău with open arms!
With respect and appreciation,
Sergiu Prodan
Minister of Culture of the Republic of Moldova
